My Profile First I'll tell you a little bit about my background, so you know how I became a teacher. I went to college at the University of New England, double majoring in English and Secondary Education with a minor in Studio Art. It was right on the ocean-- I could do my homework on the beach!
After graduation, I spent a year at UMASS Amherst working on a Master's degree in Secondary Education while substitute teaching at the local high school. From there, I moved right on into Knox Trail to teach eighth grade English with all of you! As an English teacher, I obviously love to read, so if you're looking for any recommendations, here are some of my favorites:
*Anything by Robin McKinley. She does lots of young adult retellings of old classics, like Beauty and the Beast, Pegasus, Robin Hood, and Sleeping Beauty, among others.
*Jane Austen. Enough said.
*Anything by JRR Tolkien, author of The Lord of the Rings.
*The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Great adventure story about a girl in a game of survivor-to-the-death, if you will.
I'm really happy as an English teacher here at Knox, and I love coming out to games, dances, shows, and more. I'm the coach for the drama club-- who just put on a terrific production of Alice in Wonderland- and I spend lots of time acting, hiking, dancing, and riding my horse when I'm not at school.
