She's at the end of her rope with her mom dying and losing her sister and how fast the factory work is going, and additionally, there is no silver lining to the loss of Diana. At least with her other trials, she knew she was going through a tough time for the good of someone else. For example, when she lost Rachel, it was to keep her sister happy and healthy. When she has to leave the farm, she's at least getting fed and is helping pay off her family's debt. Losing Diana, however, benefits no one-- in fact, it hurts her reform cause AND hurts the girls who rely on her for guidance-- and it's for an entirely unjust reason. Thoughts?","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"40280558","body":"I think leaving to work at the mills is the hardest thing to do and took the most determination because she left all her family and friends to a bunch of strangers. this ended up being a good thing and she made a lot of money","dateCreated":"1308246291","smartDate":"Jun 16, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"tfogg1996","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/tfogg1996","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1308245362\/tfogg1996-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"40280852","body":"The thing is though, that had Diane not left,Lyddie's life might be ifferent. When leaving the mills, Diane often hung out with Lyddie and Brigid. Had she still been there, and had Mr. Marsden still tried to do what he did, Diane most likely would have been with Lyddie, and gone to help Brigid. Diane would also most likely have argued with the agent, and been brave enough to tell the agent what had transpired, since she knew what moral turpitude was.
\nDiane would probably have saved both hers and Lyddie's jobs, so Lyddie wouldn't have gone back home and got together with Luke and decide to go to college in Ohio. So maybe it was better for Lyddie that Diane left. It helped get her out of the mills.
\nBut that's just my thoughts.","dateCreated":"1308246772","smartDate":"Jun 16, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"RBowen96","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/RBowen96","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}}],"more":0}]}],"more":false},"comments":[]},"http":{"code":200,"status":"OK"},"redirectUrl":null,"javascript":null,"notices":{"warning":[],"error":[],"info":[],"success":[]}}
